US beam exports down 58.1 percent in October from September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 19,303 mt in October this year, down 58.1 percent from September and down 44.3 percent from October last year. By value, beam exports totaled $22.3 million in October, compared to $32.6 million in the previous month and $33.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most beams to Canada in October with 11,642 mt, compared to 20,936 mt in September and 15,852 mt in October last year. The other top destinations included Mexico with 5,807 mt.There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US beam exports in October.
