Ukrainian crude steel and pig iron outputs increase in May

In May this year, Ukraine's crude steel output totaled 3.009 million mt, up 0.5 percent or 14,000 mt as compared to April, according to a Ukrainian government source. In addition, Ukrainian output of pig iron in the given month increased by 0.5 percent to 2.426 million mt as compared to the level in April.

In the January-May period of the current year, Ukrainian crude steel production reached 14.641 million mt, marking an increase of 5.8 percent year on year. In the given period, Ukraine saw a one percent rise year-on-year in its pig iron production to 11.969 million mt.
