Ukraine’s domestic steel product sales decline in January-September

According to the data released by the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the January-September period of the current year Ukraine’s domestic iron and steel product sales amounted to 1.96 million mt, down 21.7 percent year on year.

In the given period, Ukrainian exported 86.9 percent of its total steel production volume. Billets accounted for 44.6 percent compared to 45.5 percent in the same period of the previous year, while the share of flat products decreased to 30 percent from 31.2 percent in the total export volume. Meanwhile, long products accounted for 25.4 percent of all steel exports, up from 23.3 percent in the first nine months of 2014.

During the first nine months this year, the share of steel billet imports decreased to 1.3 percent from 6.3 percent, the share of flat product import increased to 75.2 percent from 71.5 percent, while the share of long product imports increased to 23.5 percent from 22.2 percent, all compared to the same period of the previous year.
