In September this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 66,611 units, falling by five percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 47,088 units, down four percent year on year. Meanwhile, in January-September period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 693,185 units, up 39 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the January-September period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 706,860 units, up eight percent, while passenger car exports decreased by one percent to 428,518 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 328,997 small trucks, up 23 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by nine percent to $15.7 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $5.04 billion, decreasing by nine percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In September of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 42,998 units, remaining unchanged, while passenger car imports totaled 34,145 units, rising by one percent, both year on year. In the first nine months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 455,259, up 37 percent, while passenger car imports reached 373,523 units, rising by 37 percent, both compared to the same period of 2014.
