Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has announced that the examination and evaluation process within the scope of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) application made by Turkish steelmaker Tosyalı-Toyo, a joint venture of Turkish steelmaker Tosyalı Holding and the Japanese steel producer Toyo Kohan, for its solar power plant project in Osmaniye in southern Turkey has been completed and has been approved.
Within the scope of the project with an investment cost of TRY 57.3 million ($2.14 million), a total of 36,038 solar panels will be installed. The power plant, which will be built with a power capacity of 19.10 MWp, is expected to annually produce 31.26 million kW of energy. The electricity will be used in the company’s cold rolling mill.
In addition, Tosyalı Filmaşin ve İnşaat Demiri Üretim Sanayi, a subsidiary of Turkish steelmaker Tosyalı Holding, has lately received environmental approval for a solar power plant to be built in Osmaniye to meet the energy needs of its wire rod plant, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
