Turkey’s steel export volume up 8.4 percent in 2017

In 2017, Turkey's steel exports increased by 8.4 percent year on year to 18.3 million mt, while the value of these exports moved up by 24.1 percent year on year to $13.4 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). 

In the given period, Turkey's long steel exports fell by 7.7 percent to 9.3 million mt, while flat steel exports increased by 39.2 percent to 4.3 million mt, as compared to 2016. Also, the country’s semi-finished steel exports grew by 216.5 percent to 857,800 mt, and its pipes and tube exports increased by 11.1 percent to 1.8 million mt, both year on year.

In December last year, Turkey's steel exports increased by 1.4 percent to 1.67 million mt, with a value of $1.32 billion, up 26.8 percent, both year on year.

In the given month, Turkey's flat steel exports increased by 12.4 percent year on year to 454,000 mt, while its long steel product exports decreased by 13.2 percent year on year to 770,000 mt. In the given month, the country’s semi-finished steel exports increased by 24.8 percent to 85,000 mt, year on year.
