Turkey’s seamless pipe imports from China up 69% in H1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's seamless pipe imports fell 36.3 percent compared to the previous month and were down 11.4 percent compared to June 2011, amounting to 22,189 metric tons. The value of these imports totaled $30.2 million, decreasing 39 percent compared to May and down 3.2 percent year on year.

In the first half of the year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 120,286 metric tons, increasing 3.5 percent compared to the same period of 2011. The value of these imports came to $179.2 million, decreasing by 7.6 percent year on year.

Imports from China in the period in question amounted to 53,735 metric tons, rising by 69.1 percent year on year, while Russia and Ukraine followed China, respectively exporting 15,700 mt and 14,264 mt of seamless pipe to Turkey in the first half of this year, decreasing by 40.1 percent and 13.6 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
