In July this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 134,330 mt, up by 8.4 percent year on year and by 104.0 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey’s pig iron imports in the given month grew by 89.7 percent year on year and by 64.0 percent month on month to $57.35 million.
Meanwhile, in the January-July period this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 826,860 mt, down 7.9 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $387.25 million, decreasing by 32.7 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
In the given period, Turkey imported 586,647 mt of pig iron from Russia, up 3.1 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey’s pig iron import sources in the same period, followed by Ukraine which supplied 76,579 mt.
