In December last year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 983,299 mt, rising by 107.5 percent compared to November and down 3.86 percent as compared to the same month of 2018, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 2.8 percent year on year to $100.15 million, up 145 percent as compared to November.
Meanwhile, in 2019, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 10.12 million metric tons, down 5.7 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $1 billion, increasing by 0.5 percent compared to 2018.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 5.6 million mt, up 20.78 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1.35 million mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Canada in the given period amounted to 999,846 mt.
