According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's hot rolled coil (HRC) imports decreased by 3.5 percent year on year to 302,578 metric tons, up 7.2 percent compared to May. The revenue from these imports amounted to $164.11 million, up 9.2 percent month on month and decreasing by 18 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first six months of this year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 1.83 million metric tons, down 12.5 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $971.95 million, decreasing by 23.3 percent compared to same period of 2018.
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 750,230 mt, down 22.18 percent year on year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 225,563 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
