Turkey’s ferroalloy imports down seven percent in Q1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 15.8 percent compared to the previous month to 30,560 mt and were down 23.1 percent compared to March 2012. The value of these imports amounted to $42 million, increasing 15 percent compared to the previous month and down 34.9 percent year on year.

In the first quarter of 2013, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 95,911 metric tons, decreasing seven percent compared to January-March 2012.

Turkey's ferroalloy imports from Ukraine in the first quarter this year amounted to 27,738 metric tons, down 22.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports from India in the first quarter amounted to 19,466 mt, down 4.1 percent compared to the first three months of the previous year. Russia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey in January-March this year totaled 18,969 mt, almost quintuple year on year.
