Turkey’s ferroalloy imports down 8.6 percent in July from June

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in July this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports fell 8.6 percent compared to the previous month and were up 0.7 percent compared to July 2011, totaling 33,764 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $49.8 million, decreasing by 7.3 percent as compared to June and down 6.9 percent year on year.

In the first seven months of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 243,029 metric tons, decreasing 2.5 percent compared to January-July 2011.

Imports from Ukraine in July this year amounted to 12,927 metric tons, more than double compared to the same month of 2011, while imports from Russia in July amounted to 9,065 mt, almost quadruple, compared to the same month of 2011. Meanwhile, China exported 1,461 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in July, down 60.7 percent year on year.
