Turkey’s ferroalloy imports down 5.2 percent in Jan-Sept

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 1.9 percent compared to the previous month and were up 6.8 percent compared to September 2011, totaling 37,416 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $49.4 million, decreasing by 4.1 percent as compared to August and down 9.1 percent year on year.

In the first nine months of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 317,163 metric tons, decreasing 5.2 percent compared to January-September 2011.

Imports from Ukraine in the first nine months of this year amounted to 122,334 metric tons, up 15.9 percent compared to the same period of 2011, while imports from India in the period in question amounted to 50,933 mt, up one percent, compared to the same period of 2011. Meanwhile, Russia exported 44,026 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in January-September, up 26.9 percent year on year.
