In June this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 24.2 percent year on year to 334,237 metric tons, down 26.55 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $131.9 million, down 10.3 percent year on year and decreasing by 25.7 percent compared to the previous month.
In the January-June period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 38 percent year on year to 2.18 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $907.6 million, up 6.4 percent year on year.
In the January-June period, Turkey imported 941,516 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 2.41 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 854,347 mt in the given period, up 75.43 percent year on year.
