In March this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 73.2 percent year on year to 154,177 mt, up 2.6 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $64.9 million, down 60 percent year on year and rising by 2.3 percent compared to the previous month.
In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 566,525 mt, falling by 59.5 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 41.5 percent to $233.4 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 250,422 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, down 37.99 percent year on year, with Ukraine ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 237,638 mt in the given period.
