In March this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 35.5 percent to 155,072 mt, up by 0.6 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $87.25 million, up 36.3 percent month on month and up 34.4 percent year on year.
In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 420,791 mt, falling by 25.7 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 0.8 percent to $231.55 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 150,100 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 36.84 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 142,184 mt in the given period.
