TUIK: Turkey’s steel export value down 46.1 percent in January-September

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in September this year Turkey’s foreign trade deficit decreased by 47.8 percent to $9.61 billion compared to September 2022. In the January-September period this year, Turkey’s foreign trade deficit rose by 4.9 percent year on year to $87.2 billion.

In September, Turkey’s iron and steel exports ranked ninth among the country’s products with the highest export value, totaling $815.33 million, decreasing by 32.9 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked seventh among the products with the highest export value, went down by 4.9 percent year on year, amounting to $919.89 million.

In the first nine months of this year, Turkey’s iron and steel export value was down by 46.1 percent to $6.57 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel fell by 6.0 percent to $7.45 billion, both year on year.
