ThyssenKrupp Mannex appointed by Welspun as distributor in Europe

German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp has announced that ThyssenKrupp Mannex GmbH, one of the internationally operating service segments of the company, has been appointed by Mumbai, India-headquartered Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren Ltd., the second biggest large diameter pipe company in the world, as its distributor for large diameter pipes, welded line pipes and bends in Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Hans-Jürgen Pietzsch, executive board member of ThyssenKrupp Mannex, stated, "For us this outstanding appointment represents a major milestone in our pipe and tube business. Since its incorporation in 1995, Welspun has been approved as vendor by numerous international clients and has gained a high reputation in the international energy transportation sector. The new agreement will allow us to supply our international customers on a very fast and high quality base."

Welspun has pipe manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, India and Arkansas, US, and also, as part of its upward integration project, the company has set up a Steckel plate-cum-coil mill at Gujarat with a 1.5 million mt annual capacity, capable of making plates up to 4.5 meters wide.
