India-based steel giant Tata Steel has announced that it will supply over 110,000 mt of 20-inch diameter submerged arc welded line pipe for the Discovery Producer Services LLC (Discovery) gas pipeline in Keathley Canyon, Gulf of Mexico.

The pipe will be manufactured at Tata Steel's 42-inch mill in Hartlepool, England. It will be laid at water depths of up to 7,380 feet (2,250 meters) and is designed to meet the required specification for deepwater conditions. The order worth more than £100 million will be delivered in the second half of this year.

Tata Steel stated that this is the second deepwater pipe order the company has secured following the 48,000 mt of pipe supply for an oil pipeline for the Lucius Development Project also in the Gulf of Mexico.
