Taiwan’s CSC posts positive operating income for August

Taiwan’s largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in August this year its carbon steel sales volume totaled 705,951 metric tons, while in the January-August period its carbon steel sales volume amounted to 5.17 million mt.

In August, CSC’s operating revenues amounted to NTD 30.55 billion ($950.56 million), up by 8.2 percent month on month. In the given month, the company’s operating income totaled NTD 285.21 million ($8.87 million), compared to a NTD 1.14 billion loss recorded in the previous month.

In the January-August period this year, CSC’s operating revenues amounted to NTD 245.47 billion ($7.63 billion), decreasing by 24.3 percent year on year. In the given period, the company’s operating income totaled NTD 552.01 million ($17.18 million), compared to a NTD 28.91 billion operating income recorded in the same period last year.
