Spanish Celsa starts to ship from former ASW mill

Recent reports from the industry reveal that Spanish Celsa Group shipped its first product since the acquisition of former ASW mill in Cardiff. The first material deliveries have been effected to one of its British costomers. Celsa is also aiming to ship material from the rebar mill next month due to success in delivering its first product. Furthermore, the company is planning to expand its electric arc furnace (EAF) capacity in order to increase its Cardiff mill's annual production capacity to almost 900'000 tons before 2004. Celsa also expects to produce 600'000 tons of rebar and rod; and more than 200'000 tons of bars and sections next year. Celsa's purpose is to supply to the UK market from the Cardiff mill. Also, the company aims to import products from its Spanish mills. With this purpose, the company shipped 5'000 tons of steel beams at the port of Cardiff earlier this month.
