According to the Brazilian foreign trade authority Siscomex, the central system of the Brazilian government dealing with competitiveness in foreign trade, (COMEX), average freight rates for the country’s steel imports for January declined from a month earlier in December.
COMEX reports that coated flat products were delivered at on average $56/mt from China, $56/mt from Vietnam, $132/mt from South Korea, $89/mt from Japan, $18/mt from Germany, and $62/mt from Hong Kong.
For HRC, January showed at $51/mt from South Korea, $42/mt from Egypt, $85/mt from China and $26/mt from Italy.
For CRC, $57/mt from China, $53/mt from South Korea and $79/mt from Hong Kong.
For rebar, $80/mt from China, $60/mt from Russia, $130/mt from South Korea and $23/mt from Turkey.
For wiring $77/mt from China, $137/mt from South Korea, $100/mt from Austria, $14/mt from Egypt, and $89/mt from France.
For beams, $61/mt from China, and $34/mt from Turkey.
For wire rod, $83/mt from China, $36/mt from Egypt, and $62/mt from Russia.
In January, the Brazilian imports of finished steel products from China were equivalent in volume to 62 percent of the total, up from 60 percent in December.
The average freight rate for the Brazilian steel imports in December was $59/mt, against $62/mt in November.
