Over the past month, Bulgarian domestic longs prices have decreased by BGN 5-15/mt (€3-8/mt) against the backdrop of the sluggish demand during the summer period. The general sentiment on the demand side in Bulgaria is still not quite bright, but some import activity is anticipated for the new quota round due to start on October 1. The level of stocks in the retail longs market in Bulgaria is currently moderate.
In the import segment, Turkish rebar has been offered to Bulgaria officially at $545-550/mt CFR, $10/mt down over the month, following sliding scrap prices over the same period. Moreover, according to sources, the workable level is close to $535/mt CFR for the Turkish origin. Ex-Turkey fresh equal angle export offers are standing at $625-640/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has heard. The freight rate from Turkey to Bulgaria estimated at around $15-20/mt for all products.
On the European side, ex-Poland merchant bar offers are rumored at €670-690/mt CPT. Moreover, ex-Italy and Poland beam offers are heard at around €790-890/mt CPT and €770-860/mt CPT. In addition, a few ex-Spain relatively small beam size offers are rumored at €740/mt CIF.
