Siemens to modernize long product rolling mill in Thailand

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced that it has received an order from Bangkok-based steelmaker Thai Steel Profile Co. to modernize the long product rolling mill in its Rayong plant.
 
The project aims to extend the product range in order to include merchant bars and to further improve productivity. Following the modernization, the annual capacity of the rolling mill will reach 400,000 mt of long products. The plant will be able to produce a wide range of rods with round and square cross-sections, flats and also angle and channel steels, as well as reinforcement steel bars
 
The modernized long product rolling mill is scheduled to commence operation in mid-2013. Siemens will be responsible for monitoring the installation and commissioning.
