Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced its operational results for the fourth quarter of last year. Accordingly, Severstal's crude steel production in the fourth quarter decreased by four percent to 2.94 million mt compared to the third quarter of the year. In 2018, Severstal's crude steel production rose by three percent to 12.03 million mt, on year-on-year basis.
In the fourth quarter, Severstal's total consolidated steel product sales rose by two percent quarter on quarter to 2.77 million mt. The share of domestic sales declined to 62 percent. In 2018, Severstal's total consolidated steel product sales increased by two percent year on year to 11.18 million mt.
In the same quarter, Severstal's Russian Steel division’s steel product sales increased by two percent to 2.76 million mt compared with the previous quarter. Semi-finished product sales increased by 62 percent quarter on quarter to 157,000 mt.
In the fourth quarter last year, Severstal's iron ore pellet sales grew by 15 percent to 2.94 million mt, while its iron ore concentrate sales volumes remained almost unchanged at 1.43 million mt, both on quarter-on-quarter basis. Total coal sales volumes of the company increased by 16 percent from the previous quarter to 1.42 million mt.
