Severstal inks supply deals with Russian and CIS-based auto companies

Russian steel producer Severstal has announced that it has signed a number of annual agreements with Russian and CIS-based automotive companies for the supply of steel in the current year.
 
Accordingly, Severstal has signed an agreement with Russia's largest automotive corporation KAMAZ for the supply of 70,000 mt of steel products from its Cherepovets Steel Mill. Severstal and KAMAZ will also continue to work together to replace imported products. In addition, Severstal also signed agreements with GAZ Group, GM Uzbekistan and Volkswagen Group Russia
 
Severstal sales director Evgeniy Chernyakov stated that, to improve the quality of products for the customers from the automotive industry, Cherepovets Steel Mill has implemented a number of projects, including the reconstruction of its cold rolling mill, which has reduced a number of defects such as atmospheric corrosion and mechanical damages to the surface of cold rolled and hot rolled products. This year Severstal plans to continue to work to improve the quality of its products, Mr. Chernyakov added.
