Severstal increases pipe shipments for construction of oil pipelines

Russian steel producer Severstal has announced that during the first six months of the current year it increased its deliveries of pipes for the construction of oil trunk pipelines by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year. In H1 2010, Severstal delivered more than 73,000 mt of large diameter pipes for the projects of Russia's state-owned oil pipeline monopoly Transneft.

Meanwhile, in the first half of 2010, Severstal developed the production of 13 new types of large diameter pipes from strip produced by Severstal Cherepovets, of which more than half are for the oil trunk pipeline projects of Transneft.

In 2010, the main oil pipeline project for Severstal will be the second phase of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline, for which it plans to deliver more than 80,000 mt of pipes this year.
