Severstal Cherepovets reconstructs converter No. 2

Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel, has announced the beginning of reconstruction of the converter No. 2 at its converter shop.

The reconstruction work, to be carried out at a cost of Ruble 40 million (approx. $1.47 million), is due to continue for 13 days and will include the replacement of the converter's refractory lining, and the upgrading of the converter body.

The main objective of the reconstruction is to reduce the cost of running the converter and to increase its safety of operation.
