Russian miner and steelmaker Mechel has announced that its subsidiary Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (BMK) has recommissioned its galvanized wire production unit after a major overhaul.

The unit, which has a monthly production capacity of up to 2,000 mt, produces low-carbon steel galvanized wire with diameters between 1-6 mm which are widely used in the construction industry.

With the overhaul the unit will now be able to produce high-quality product, and thanks to the zinc coating, the wire will become resistant to corrosion in aggressive environments.
