Raspadskaya’s coal output up 20 percent in Q3 from Q2

Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, has announced that in the third quarter this year its raw coal production volume increased by 20 percent compared to the second quarter of this year to 2.73 million mt, while in the first nine months of the current year its raw coal production volume rose 13 percent year on year to 7.80 million mt.

In the third quarter, concentrate sales increased by six percent to 1.71 million mt, while hard coking coal sales increased by 127 percent to 487,000 mt, quarter on quarter, due to the higher domestic shipments in the period. In the January-September period this year, the company’s concentrate sales increased by 18 percent to 5.04 million mt, while its hard coking coal sales declined by five percent to 782,000 mt, both year on year.

According to Raspadskaya's statement, during the third quarter export sales volumes of coal concentrate rose 39 percent to 991,000 mt due to the improvement of market conditions on export routes in the given period, while domestic sales of coking coal concentrate declined by 20 percent to 720,000 mt, both on quarter-on-quarter basis. In the first nine months of this year, the company’s export sales volumes of coal concentrate increased by 25 percent to 2.68 million mt, and domestic sales of coking coal concentrate increased by 12 percent to 2.36 million mt, both compared to the same period of 2014.
