Raspadskaya’s coal output down 15 percent in Q3 from Q2

Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, has announced that in the third quarter this year its raw coal production volume decreased by 15 percent compared to the second quarter of this year to 2.6 million mt, while in the first nine months of the current year its raw coal production volume increased by 17 percent year on year to 8.55 million mt.

In the third quarter, concentrate sales rose by four percent quarter on quarter to 1.74 million mt, largely thanks to increased exports, while hard coking coal sales declined by 44 percent compared to the second quarter to 153,000 mt. In the January-September period this year, the company’s concentrate sales went up by 12 percent to 5.10 million mt, while its hard coking coal sales increased by 125 percent to 518,000 mt, both year on year.

According to Raspadskaya's statement, during the third quarter export sales volumes of coal concentrate rose by six percent to 1.18 million mt, while domestic sales of coking coal concentrate remained almost stable at 556,000 mt, both on quarter-on-quarter basis. In the first nine months of this year, the company’s export sales volumes of coal concentrate increased by 21 percent to 3.32 million mt, and domestic sales of coking coal concentrate decreased by two percent to 1.78 million mt, both compared to the same period of 2016.
