Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, has announced that in the second quarter this year its raw coal production volume decreased by 19 percent quarter on quarter to 2.43 million mt.

In the second quarter, Raspadskaya’s coking coal concentrate sales declined by 14 percent to 1.63 million mt, including domestic sales of 476,000 mt, down 13 percent, while export sales of coking coal concentrate went down by 14 percent to 1.16 million mt, all on quarter-on-quarter basis. Meanwhile, the company’s raw coal sales in the given quarter surged by 780 percent compared to the previous quarter to 694,000 mt.

According to Raspadskaya’s statement, in line with the production plan, raw coal mining at the Raspadskaya mine was transitioned from three to two longwalls during the reporting period. In May this year, the mine also had a temporary shutdown of one longwall to improve production safety at the developed longwall space.
