Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, has announced that in the first quarter this year its raw coal production volume increased by five percent quarter on quarter to three million mt.

In the first quarter, Raspadskaya’s coking coal concentrate sales rose by six percent to 1.89 million mt, including domestic sales of 545,000 mt, down three percent, while its export sales of coking coal concentrate increased by 11 percent to 1.35 million mt, all on quarter-on-quarter basis.

According to Raspadskaya’s statement, in the given quarter the company maximized its product shipments to take advantage of favorable prices. Coal product sales volumes grew both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, partly due to the management’s efforts to optimize export logistics.

The company plans to mine a total of around 12 million mt of raw coal across its operations this year.
