Russia's second largest coking coal producer Raspadskaya has stated that in the third quarter of the current year its coal output decreased by 25 percent quarter on quarter to 1.37 million mt, rising by 13.7 percent year on year. In the first nine months of the year, the company's coal output amounted to 4.81 million mt, up three percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

During the quarter in question, Raspadskaya's sales of coal concentrate increased by six percent year on year to 981,000 mt, while its sales of run-of-mine coal decreased by 2.06 percent to 190,000 mt. In the first nine months of the year, coal concentrate sales increased by eight percent to 2.98 million mt, while run-of-mine coal sales declined by 36 percent to 516,000 mt, year on year.

According to Raspadskaya's statement, in the third quarter production volumes decreased due to lower demand for coking coal in the domestic market and a declining price trend on export markets. The company exported 500,000 mt of coking coal in the first nine months of the current year.
