Poland-based JSW lowers coal output outlook for 2026

Poland-based coking coal producer Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW) has announced that it has revised its production outlook for 2026, lowering its expected coal output due to operational delays at one of its key mines.

The company now expects total coal production of approximately 13.3 million mt in 2026.

Suspension at Pniówek mine impacts production

The downward revision is linked to a reduced production forecast at the Pniówek coal mine, one of JSW’s key assets. The delay stems from a methane and rock outburst and a group accident that occurred in December 2025 during drilling operations. Following the incident, the authorities suspended further drilling work until specialized analyses are completed and new safety measures are approved by the State Mining Authority. As a result of the incident, the launch of the N-9 longwall has been postponed from May to November 2026. This delay is expected to significantly impact production volumes for the current year.
