Italy-based Pittini Group's steelmaking subsidiary Acciaierie di Verona has this week inaugurated its new wire rod mill in Verona in northern Italy, 19 months after the mill was ordered from Italian plantmaker Danieli. The Verona plant, previously owned by Riva Acciaio S.p.a., was purchased by Pittini at the end of 2015 with the aim of expanding its operations and reinforcing its position in the rebar and building fields, in the Italian and foreign markets, by increasing the range of high-quality wire rod products.
Danieli has supplied Acciaierie di Verona both with a new two-strand wire rod mill and a new six-strand billet caster. The hot-test period lasted seven weeks, during which 25,000 mt of finished wire rod were produced. Equipped with the most advanced technologies and in full compliance with Industry 4.0 requirements, the plant produces 750,000 mt per year of wire rods from 5.5 mm to 25 mm and rebar from 6 mm to 18 mm at a rolling speed of 100 m/sec, stated Danieli in its press release. Danieli's Q3 intelligence system is used for the integrated data collection of the whole plant.
Acciaierie di Verona's wire rod mill is the 500th rolling mill supplied by Danieli.
