The government of the Indian state of Odisha will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by the end of this month for the construction of a greenfield steel mill in the state by a joint venture of JSW Group and South Korea’s POSCO, state chief minister Mohan Majhi said on Thursday, January 16.

In November last year, JSW Group and POSCO had announced that they would jointly establish a 5 million mt per year capacity steel mill in Odisha.

Majhi said that two land parcels in the Keonjhar district have been identified for the project and would be handed over to the investors once the latter completed the inspection of the site.

The Keonjhar district is the highest iron ore producing region in Odisha.
