Odisha receives 13 proposals for greenfield steel mills projects with aggregate 64.28 million mt capacity

The eastern Indian state of Odisha has received 13 proposals for construction of greenfield steel mills with an aggregate installed capacity of 64.28 million mt per year, state minister of steel and mines Prafulla Mallik informed elected representatives on Tuesday, March 21.

The minister said Arya Iron and Steel Company Limited has proposed to set up its mill at the iron ore belt of Barbil, JSW Utkal Steel Limited at Dinka, Orissa Alloy Steel Limited and Beekay Utkal Steel Limited have proposed to establish mills at Kalinganagar, Envirocare Infrasolutions Limited at Lathikata, Fedders Electric and Engineering Limited at Bonai and Rungta Mines Limited at Raigangpur. 

Rungta Mines Limited has also proposed mills at Karakola and Keonjhar, Siddiriddhi International Limited at Joda, Orissa Metaliks at Nayagarh, Jindal Steel Odisha Limited at Banarpal and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Limited at Mahakalpada. 

The minister stated that the Odisha government has so far completed the auction of 41 iron ore mines in the state, of which 23 have gone into production, while five more mines are under process of auction.
