New car registrations in Germany up three percent in February

In February this year, new passenger car registrations in Germany rose by three percent to 206,210 units compared to the same month of 2022, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in first two months of this year, new passenger car registrations remained unchanged at 385,457 units compared to the same period in 2022.

According to the VDA, in February new registrations of electric vehicles decreased by 11.0 percent year on year to 44,430 units. In the January-February this year, new registrations of electric vehicles amounted to 71,438 units, moving down by 20.0 percent year on year.

In February, German passenger car manufacturers produced 382,600 units, up 24.0 percent compared to February 2022. In the first two months of the year, passenger car manufacturers produced 708,300 units, up 26.0 percent from the same period of last year.
