New car registrations in Germany up 18 percent in July

In July this year, new passenger car registrations in Germany rose by 18.0 percent to 243,300 units compared to the same month of 2022, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first seven months of this year, new passenger car registrations moved up by 14.0 percent year on year to 1,640,200 units.

According to the VDA, in July new registrations of electric vehicles increased by 20.0 percent year on year to 63,060 units. In the January-July period this year, new registrations of electric vehicles amounted to 362,500 units, moving up by one percent year on year.

In July, German passenger car manufacturers produced 300,300 units, up 20.0 percent compared to July 2022. In the first seven months of the year, passenger car manufacturers produced 2,257,300 units, up 31.0 percent from the same period of last year.
