Mexico's Ministry of Economy (Secretaría de Economía) has announced that it has started an antidumping investigation on imports of steel plates originating from Italy and Japan, regardless of the country of origin.

The period of investigation is from May 2016 to April 2017, while the analysis for potential damages will be carried out for the period from May 2014 to April 2017. Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) petitioned for the investigation in July this year.

The products subject to the investigation are steel plates with thicknesses equal to or greater than 4.75 mm and widths equal to or greater than 600 mm, regardless of their length. They are identified under the HS codes 7208.5101, 7208.5102, 7208.5103, 7208.5201, and 7225.4099.
