Mexican auto production increases in January

Mexican auto production in the first month of the year rose 4.1 percent, year-on-year, to 303,755 units, the nation’s automotive industry association (AMIA) said on Friday.

Mexican exports of autos in January improved 9.2 percent, year-on-year, to 231,088 units.

Following the same trend, sales of vehicles in the domestic market in January dropped 11.5 percent, year-on-year, to 109,145 mt. Domestic sales of autos have been declining on a year-on-year basis in the past few months according to AMIA’s data.
