Mexican auto production and exports up in April

Mexican auto production in April rose 2 percent, year-on-year, to 299,707 units, according to local automotive industry association, AMIA. Mexican exports of vehicles in April reached 284,471 units, 5 percent up, year-on-year. On the other hand, domestic sales of autos in April dropped 10.4 percent, year-on-year, to 98,105 units, AMIA said.

As for the four-month period from January to April, AMIA said Mexican production of autos increased 2.8 percent, year-on-year, to 1.29 million units. Mexican exports of vehicles in the January-April period improved 2.8 percent, year-on-year, to 1.12 million units, while domestic sales in the same four-month period totaled 430,118 units, 3.9 percent down, year-on-year.
