Mexican auto production and exports rise in September while domestic sales fall

Mexican auto production and exports increased in September while domestic sales decreased, according to data released on Monday by the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA.

Auto production increased 7.7 percent year-on-year to 307,174 units, while exports increased by 15 percent year-on-year to 270,899 units. Domestic sales of autos in September fell 11.5 percent, year-on-year, to 116,356 units.

As for the accumulated period of January to September, the country’s auto production increased 10 percent year-on-year to 2.8 million units. Exports increased 11.5 percent to 2.2 million units during the same period, while domestic sales of autos during the nine-month period fell 1.1 percent year-on-year to 1.1 million units.
