Mexican auto production and domestic sales decline in December

Mexican auto production in December dropped 9.7 percent, year-on-year, to 237,677 units, the nation’s automotive industry association (AMIA) said on Friday.

Mexican domestic auto sales in December declined 10.7 percent, year-on-year, to 141,963 units. On the other hand, Mexican auto exports in the last month of the year was 275,045 units, 2.3 percent up, year-on-year.

As for the full year of 2018, Mexican auto production reached 3.9 million units, 0.6 percent down, year-on-year, while auto exports in the same period totaled 3.4 million units, 6 percent up, year-on-year. Mexican domestic auto sales in the full year of 2018 decreased 7.1 percent, year-on-year, to 1.4 million units.
