JFE Steel to revamp its Kurashiki blast furnace No. 4

Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel Corporation has announced that it has decided to revamp the No. 4 blast furnace of the company’s West Japan Works (Kurashiki). The blow-in is scheduled for the second half of the fiscal year beginning in April 2021.

Modernization of the blast furnace will cost approximately JPY 50 billion ($461.3 million).

JFE Steel said that the company strives to maintain a production system capable of flexibly and swiftly adjusting to changes in demand.
