Japan's new ship export orders fall in September from August

According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in September this year decreased by 0.5 percent on tonnage basis compared to August, falling to 20 ships, compared to 21 ships recorded in August, totaling 759,600 gross tons, consisting of 16 bulk carriers. In September last year, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled six ships amounting to 188,900 gross tons.

In the first nine months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 142 ships with an aggregate of 7.06 million gross tons, up 154.9 percent year on year. 

On the other hand, in September this year Japan delivered 19 ships for export, totaling 863,425 gross tons, rising from 13 ships totaling 565,058 gross tons recorded in August. In September 2016, Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 23 ships with 1.12 million gross tons.

Meanwhile, in the January-September period of the current year, Japan delivered 215 ships for export, totaling 9.32 million gross tons, falling by 6.2 percent year on year.
