In July this year, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet shipments were up by 8.0 percent compared to the previous month and down by 5.8 percent from 793,657 mt recorded in the same month of 2022, amounting to 747,386 metric tons, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. In the given month, 72.2 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 27.8 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 739,713 mt, up by 8.7 percent month on month and down by 2.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in July Japan’s hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.49 million mt, moving up by 1.2 percent from the previous month and increasing by 21.9 percent year on year. 20.8 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 79.2 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.43 million mt, down by 2.9 percent month on month and up by 31.4 percent year on year.
