In September this year, Japanese crude steel production was down 1.2 percent compared to the previous month and increased two percent compared to September last year, totaling 8.62 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in September of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.37 million metric tons, falling by 4.5 percent compared to the previous month and falling 0.8 percent year on year.
In the first nine months of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 58.75 million metric tons, down 2.8 percent, while its crude steel production came to 78.26 million metric tons, falling 0.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
