In October this year, Japanese crude steel production was up by 1.6 percent compared to the previous month and fell by 4.5 percent compared to October last year, totaling 8.56 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in October of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.28 million metric tons, increasing by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month and declining by 4.4 percent year on year.
In the January-October period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 64.82 million metric tons, down 0.8 percent, while its crude steel production came to 87.18 million metric tons, falling by 0.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
